With rising food prices many Maori are increasingly purchasing cheaper less healthy food to feed their families. Te Hotu Manawa Maori provides leadership support, education and advocacy to empower Māori communities to improved health through good nutrition and participation in regular physical activity. In Episode 4 we follow Tissa as she learns about how to feed her whanau the kai they need.

Max Ihaka doesn’t look like a man with health problems, but like too many of us Max has high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Given his whanau history of heart disease Max considers himself lucky that he was diagnosed before he became another statistic.  In episode 3 we follow him as he is setting out on the Great Ride For Heart 2010, a 14 day journey from Cape Reinga to Bluff on a bicycle, to raise awareness and funds for Preventative research.
